"Best British fusion album for many years"
This album was a long time in the making. The instrumental quartet play a type of "fusion", but this is no rock based jazz noodling. All the material is tightly arranged and has a strong progressive rock element. The compositions are very strong and quite varied in textures, with guitar and keyboards very much to the fore. The final track, "Paralysis" is particularly impressive. It's very symphonic in execution, with a wonderful mellotron signature used to dramatic effect. The production is very detailed, in particular the cymbals sounding very clear and precise. Not since the days when Brand X were at their peak has a British band, performing complex instrumental rock, impressed so much. This is another top release from the excellent Cyclops label. Let's hope we won't have to wait too long for a second album.
